Today, 47 years ago, on April 27, 1978 (Calendar 21 March 1978), a bloodshed coup took place in Afghanistan. On April 27, 1978, in Kabul, tanks and MiG-21 fighters bombed the presidential palace, and the government of Muhammad Daoud was overthrown by a military coup. The coup took place after the government tightened restrictions on political factions holding different views; in this incident, an opposition leader was assassinated. Many people were arrested.
