Victor Hugo was born on 26 February 1802 in a family of officers in Besançon, France. He had a strong interest in literature in his middle school years. His literary activity began with his writing for the journal The Conservative of Literature. Due to the influence of the family, Hugo's first poems were largely praised by monarchism and religion. His first ministerial novel, Han Islant, was praised by novelist Noé. The connection with Noé led Hugo to turn to romanticism and gradually become the leader of romanticism. After the July Revolution of 1830, Hugo went further on the political path of the left, and his long famous work "The Notre Dame of Paris" was the work of this period.

When the ¡°February Revolution¡± began in 1848, Hugo became a firm Republican and was elected a member of the Constitutional Assembly, becoming the leader of the social-democratic left in the French National Assembly. In 1851, Louis Bonaparte launched a counter-revolutionary coup. Hugo immediately issued a declaration to resist, unfortunately defeated. In December of the same year, Hugo was forced to flee to Brussels.

During his nineteen years in exile, Hugo persisted in his struggle against the dictatorship of Napoleon III, and persisted in his writing. In 1852, he published a political brochure titled "Little Napoleon" (Little Napoleon) in which he bitterly mocked Napoleon III. In the spring of the same year, he wrote "The End of a Crime" (The End of a Crime) with angry accusations and ruthless revelations of counter-revolutionary abuse.

In his lifetime following the pace of the times, Hugo was an important writer in the history of French literature. In particular, it is worth mentioning that in 1861, when Hugo learned that the Anglo-French invaders had burned the circular garden, he expressed his mourning, he wrote: ¡°The French Empire gained half of the wreckage from this victory, and now it is innocent as if it were the real owner, bringing out an exhibition of the magnificent plunder of the circular garden. I wish that one day France could get rid of the burden, cleanse the blame, and return this wealth to the plundered China.¡±
