On the same day that she travelled around the globe 135 years ago, she completed her single trip around the globe on 25 January 1890 (Lunar Calendar 5 January 1890), as Nelly Blythe completed her one-week trip around the globe. Nelly Blythe (photographed in 1890) Nelly Blythe (5 May 1864 – 27 January 1922), originally named Elizabeth Jane Cocklen, was born in Miles, Pennsylvania, as the nickname of Nelly Blythe. As an early married investigative journalist, she opened the river of secret interviews. She was hired by Joseph P. Plitz for an incitement to report on the newspaper: The New York Times.
