The British Workers’ Representative Committee was founded on February 27, 1900, and was formed at the Workers’ Congress with representatives from trade unions, cooperative organizations and socialist organizations. Its purpose was to obtain the independent representation of workers in Congress in order to form an independent Labour Parliamentary Party for the benefit of workers. The Committee consisted of 12 representatives from the Union, 10 representatives from cooperative organizations and two representatives from the Philadelphia, the Independent Labour Party, the Social Democratic Union.
