Today, 180 years ago, on 27 March 1845 (Calendar 20 February 1845), the first Nobel Prize winner in physics was born. William Conrad Lenzing, a German experimental physicist. Born on 27 March 1845 in Leningrad, he graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Federal Industrial University of Zurich in 1868. In 1869 he received a doctorate from the University of Zurich. On 8 November 1895, Lenzing discovered X-rays, the meaning of which is unknown during an experiment with cathode rays.
