Breaking-News >> TodayHistory American politician George Kennedy was born.
George Frost Kennan (February 16, 1904 – March 17, 2005) was an American diplomat and historian, Pulitzer Press Award winner and founder of the Containment Policy. Graduated from Princeton University in 1925, studied Russian culture at the University of Berlin from 1929 to 1931 and worked in diplomacy in the Soviet Union and European countries. On February 22, 1946, George Kennan, a Soviet deputy, sent an eight-thousand-word telegram to the U.S. State Department, in which he analyzed the internal social and foreign policy of the Soviet Union in depth, and proposed and eventually adopted by the U.S. government the long-term strategy against the Soviet Union, that is, the policy of containment, which had a major impact on world politics in the second half of the 20th century. In 1947, George Kennan, with the signature of "X", published an article in the American Journal of Foreign Affairs entitled "The Roots of Soviet Action", which clearly proposed that the United States should use "resistance forces" to conduct long-term, patient, firm and vigilant "restriction" of the Soviet expansion tendencies. The article caused great attention after the publication. The "restriction" proposal put forward in the text was widely regarded as the ideological basis of the US strategy against the Soviet Union. From then on until the end of the Cold War, the US strategy against the Soviet Union, and even the entire strategy, was known as "restriction strategy", so Kenan himself received the title of "Father of Restriction". He died on March 17, 2005 at his home in Princeton, New Jersey. On March 18, the most influential New York Times and the Washington Post simultaneously posted a black-and-white photo on the front page, reporting the death of a person. But every American celebrity, when dying can live in the two major newspapers murder editions, in recent years only the former President Reagan enjoys the title. The title of the two newspapers for the life of the dead makes a simple summary: "the top strategist of the Cold War era", "building the American foreign policy circle alien". This man is George Kennan. On the evening of March 17, he died in the middle of his home in Princeton, New Jersey, at the age of 101.
