On January 13, 1935, a referendum in Saarland approved the reunification of Germany.
Today, 90 years ago, on January 13, 1935, (December 9, 1934) the citizens of Saar voted in favour of re-unification with Germany. The results of the referendum in Saar Region on January 13, 1935 showed that 528,005 citizens with voting rights in Saar Region participated in the vote, resulting in 90.8% of those willing to belong to Germany. France and the International Union both believed that the legitimacy of the vote was undoubted, and the UN decided that Saar Region and the German Empire were officially merged from March 1, 1935.
