Today, 192 years ago, on 28 February 1833 (Calendar 9 January 1833), the outstanding German genius strategist Alfred von Schriffen was born. Alfred Graff von Schriffen (28 February 1833 ¨C 4 January 1913) was a German army marshal, an outstanding German genius strategist. Count Schriffen was born in Berlin, his father was a Prussian general. Joined the army in 1854. In 1886 he was promoted to Major General. On 4 December 1888 he was promoted to Lieutenant General, to the Army General Director and Deputy Chief of Staff. In 1891, Count Schriffen replaced Count Wassily as Chief of Staff until he retired on 1 January 1906. In 1911 he was promoted to Chief of Staff. In 1905 he proposed the famous "Schriffen Plan".
