Captain Charles Blair On January 31, 1951, New York-based pilot Little Charles Blair set a new record of 7 hours and 48 minutes of flight from New York to London. He drove his modified Boeing jet to London with an average flight of 450 miles per hour, breaking the record set by a Pan American Airlines flight in his home last September.
