On January 14, 1931, the Italian fleet completed its first landing flight across the Atlantic, under the leadership of the Italian Minister of Aviation, General Eugenio Barber, 14 Seviera Marshall S-55s began their first landing flight across the Atlantic from Italy in December 1930, with 10 of them landing safely in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
