Today, 61 years ago, on 13 January 1964 (November 29, 1963) the Summit of the Arab States was held. On the initiative of Egyptian President Nasser, the first Summit of the Arab States was held in Cairo, Egypt, on 13 January 1964. The Summit was mainly focused on Israel¡¯s unilateral change of the Jordan River. The Summit also decided on the restoration of the rights of the Palestinian people, the establishment of the Arab Joint Command, and the establishment of the Palestinian entity. The Summit of the Arab States was held at the highest level of the Summit of the Arab States. In addition to the participation of the Heads of State or Government of the Member States of the Arab League, the leaders of the Palestinian Liberation Organization also attended the meeting. From 1964 to March 28, 2007, 19 meetings were held.
