Venezuelan Foreign Minister: U.S. invasion of Venezuela would result in regional disaster

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Hill said on September 26 that a U.S. aggression against Venezuela would result in a regional disaster.

Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Hill said the U.S. government was “preparing to launch an aggression against Venezuela with increasing strength and intensity” and warned that launching “even the smallest level of aggression” on Venezuelan territory would evolve into a “catastrophe” for the entire Latin American region.

Hill reiterated that Venezuela is a peace-loving country and has always insisted on resolving differences through dialogue. In the face of the U.S. military deployment in the Caribbean waters, the Venezuelan people will resist and defeat aggression with "perfect national unity".

Hill said the U.S. accused President Maduro of drug trafficking was nothing more than an attempt to seize Venezuelan resources and promote regime change, all of which violated the UN Charter.

The U.S. has deployed several warships in the Caribbean waters near Venezuela, claiming to have destroyed several “drug ships” and killed several “drug traffickers”.In August, the U.S. paid a $50 million prize for searching for Maduro on the basis of “suspicion of transporting drugs to the U.S. through criminal organizations.”
