On September 27th, Inter Milan President Marotta was interviewed by the reporters present when he was awarded an honorary master's degree. He publicly defended head coach Chivu and talked about the Serie A championship goal and the new stadium.
The team coach Zidane.
“We have a great coach. The team is not in an emergency, and he is not a child anymore. He is a well-trained coach. A lot of people who don’t understand him have issued many judgments, these judgments are blatant and inconsistent with the facts.”
“We have absolutely no reason to change coaches in the middle of the season, on the contrary, we’re all very happy with him. That’s not even a matter of patience, because you can’t evaluate a coach after a month and a half, but we can see him in everyday work: he has a modern approach, has a great working culture, and is progressing every day.”
About the Serie A title goal
"Inter are a great club and must fight for the highest honor. We can't be arrogant, but we have to be ambitious. In sport, there is nothing wrong with openly stating certain goals. Of course, if there are objectively stronger teams, we must also acknowledge this. Our starting point is to try to achieve the goals, first of all qualifying for the Champions League, which is essential for the sustainability of the club. Then, go for something more important. "
The issue of the new stadium
“Neither optimistic nor worried, I have a healthy realistic attitude at the moment. Milan City faces the risk of having a modern stadium for its two teams that represent the city’s excellence and valuable wealth.”
“Leaving this city would be a failure for everybody. I am a citizen of Milan, and I would regret it. I’m not saying that I’m not going to argue, but Milan must have its own stadium, because today’s San Siro Stadium no longer meets the requirements of regulation, reception and modernization. If the municipality finally says no, then it’s obvious that we’ll look elsewhere.
