Yugoslav leaders react to NATO decision on 11 February 1994
Today, 31 years ago, on February 11, 1994 (Calendar 2 January 1994) Yugoslav leaders reacted vigorously to NATO’s decision. Yugoslav President Liège called UN Secretary-General Gary on February 11, 1994 and expressed great concerns about the situation in Bosnia after NATO sent a final message to the Bosnians. Liège said that the only way to end the Bosnian War was through equal negotiations between the three parties in the conflict, but NATO tried to find a solution through ultimate consensus and military force, which could only be to encourage Bosnia to continue the war. Liège stressed that NATO, as a military group, had no right to issue such a final message. This action was a self-exclusion of the UN Security Council’s political limits. Liège called on the UN Secretary-General to take all measures to enable the Security
