Today, 29 years ago, on April 3, 1996 (February 16, 1996), US Secretary of Commerce Brown was killed. On April 3, 1996, Brown’s Boeing 737 plane crashed near Dubrov Airport in the southernmost part of Croatia due to bad weather, killing all 33 people on board. On April 12, President Clinton appointed U.S. Trade Representative Kent as Commerce Secretary to replace Brown.
