Breaking-News >> TodayHistory March 15, 1983 International Consumer Rights Day
On March 15, 1983, the International Consumer Rights Union (ICC) declared March 15 as the International Consumer Rights Day. The former President John F. Kennedy, in his Specific Statement on the Protection of Consumer Interests in the United States Congress on March 15, 1983, first proposed the “four rights” of consumers, namely the right to security, the right to correct information, the right to freely choose and the right to express consumer opinions. Since then, the “four rights” have been gradually recognized by consumer organizations around the world and as the most basic work objectives. The International Consumer Rights Day was established in order to expand the promotion of consumer rights and interests, to give attention to the world, to promote cooperation and exchange between countries and regions, and to better protect consumer rights and interests internationally.
