On February 27, 1999, a national election was held in Nigeria, and Mr. Obama was elected President of the Fourth Republic of Nigeria. Mr. Obama is now 62 years old, he served as head of the military government of Nigeria in 1976, withdrew from politics in October 1979 and gave power to the elected government. In June 1995, he was imprisoned for alleged involvement in the ¡°coup¡± and released in June 1998.
