On 17 January 1912,Robert Falcon ScottHis and his companions¡¯ heroic failures in the race to reach Antarctica first, and the tragic events of their deaths on their way back, are recorded in the world¡¯s legends.

In retrospect, Scott's plan was too complicated and indeed untenable, and many links might (and later did) go wrong. However, the heroic spirit and tenacious will of Scott, Wilson, Oates, Powers and Evans will never be forgotten. Their bodies were found just 11 miles from a food supply station on February 10. They still rest under a conical pile of stone built on their final resting ground.
