Fifty-four years ago today, on February 28, 1971 (February 4, 1971 in the lunar calendar), the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China established the "May 7th" cadre school. On February 28, 1971, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China approved and forwarded the Report on Further Running the May 7th Cadre School of the Central Organs by the Leading Group of the May 7th Cadre School Conference of the Central Organs. This "Report" was written on January 26th, and on February 13th, some additions and changes were made during the discussion by the Political Bureau of the Central Committee. According to the Report, in the past two years, the central authorities have established 106 "May 7th" cadre schools, with nearly 90,000 cadres, 10,000 workers, 5,000 educated youth and 30,000 family members, and a total of 135,000 people studying and working in cadre schools. "The broad masses of cadres re-studied in the practice of the three major revolutions, raised their consciousness of class struggle, line struggle and continuing the revolution, and deepened their proletarian feelings for Chairman Mao". The "Report" also said that the "May 7th" cadre school is a "new thing". From the day it was born, there has been a struggle between two lines and two ideas. The "Report" also puts forward opinions on the development direction, tasks and some specific work of cadre schools. It is hoped that all localities of the central government will refer to it.
