The Academy of American Film Arts and Sciences (AcademyofMotionPictureArtsandSciences, abbreviated AMPAS) was founded on May 11, 1927, and is commonly referred to as the "American Academy of Film Arts", a non-profit organization consisting of more than 6,000 professionals or seniors in the film industry.
