Today 129 years ago, on January 4, 1896 (November 20, 1895 in the lunar calendar), Chen Tanqiu, one of the founders of the Communist Party of China (CPC), was born. Chen Tanqiu is like Chen Tanqiu, a native of Huanggang, Hubei Province, formerly known as Cheng, and whose name is Yunxian. Born January 4, 1896. Graduated from Wuchang Higher Normal University in 1919. In 1920, he served as a teacher at Wuhan Middle School. In the autumn of the same year, he initiated the establishment of Wuhan Communist Group with Dong Biwu and Bao Huiseng. Attended the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on July 1921. After the meeting, he was responsible for the organization of the Wuhan Party and participated in leading the general strike of Beijing-Hanzhou railway workers. He used to be secretary of CPC Wuhan prefectural party committee, Jiangxi provincial party committee, Manchuria provincial party committee and Fujian provincial party committee. In 1935, he went to the research class of Lenin Institute in Moscow to study and participated in the work of the Communist Party of China delegation to the Communist International. He returned to China in 1939 and served as the representative of the Communist Party of China in Xinjiang and the director of the Eighth Route Army Office in Xinjiang. In September 1942, he was arrested by Xinjiang warlord Sheng Shicai, and secretly killed in Dihua (now Urumqi) on September 27th of the following year.
