He went to Shanghai in 1931, lost contact with the party organization and studied film technology. After the outbreak of War of Resistance against Japan, he went to Wuhan to participate in the preparation of China Film Studio, where he was responsible for editing five episodes of news film "Anti-Japanese War Special", which respectively recorded the dynamics of the Anti-Japanese War before and after the Lugouqiao Incident, the evidence of various atrocities committed by Japanese invaders, and the actual situation of the Anti-Japanese War and refugee relief in Shanghai on September 10, 1937; What is particularly valuable is the record of the heroic battle of the Eighth Route Army in northern Shanxi and the victory of the Battle of Pingxingguan. At the end of 1938, China Film Studio moved to Chongqing, and decided to set up Dadi Film Company in Hong Kong, where he was the manager and producer. In 1941, he went to the United States to attend the annual meeting of the Film Engineering Society. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, he returned to China and served as the director of China Film Studio. In 1948, he went to Western Europe to investigate film technology. At the beginning of 1949, Luo Jingyu returned to China via Hong Kong to attend the Chinese Literary and Artistic Workers Congress and the inaugural meeting of the All-China Film Artists Association. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he successively served as deputy director of the Technical Committee of the Film Bureau of the Ministry of Culture and director of the production department, manager of China Film Equipment Company, and chief engineer of Beijing Film Studio. Died January 26, 1970.
