Today, 32 years ago, on May 9, 1993 (March 18, 1993) the first East Asian Games were held in Shanghai. On May 9, 1993, the first East Asian Games opened in Shanghai, a new chapter in the history of Asian sports. More than 1,200 men and women athletes from nine countries and regions from East Asia, China, Japan, China, Taipei, Hong Kong, North Korea, South Korea, Mongolia, Macao, Guam will participate in 12 competitions. On May 18, the first East Asian Games, which lasted 10 days, took place in Shanghai. Over the course of 10 days, a total of 534 medals were awarded.
