On March 24, 1997, Beijing Dong Power Company became the first Chinese company to be listed in London.
Twenty-eight years ago today, on March 24, 1997 (February 16, 1997 in the lunar calendar), Beijing Datang Power Generation Company became the first Chinese company to be listed in London. On March 21, 1997, Beijing Datang Power Generation Co., Ltd. was successfully listed on the London Stock Exchange, becoming the first Chinese company listed in London. Datang Company issued 1.244 billion overseas listed foreign shares at an issue price of HK $2.52, a price-earnings ratio of 11.9 times, and raised HK $3.135 billion. The company is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange first, and then listed on the London Stock Exchange in the form of ordinary shares.
