The French painter has died.

Paul Gauguin, taking the colourboard self-image

Gauguin was born in 1848. In his early years, he engaged in business and painted in his spare time. Early painting techniques were influenced by Pissarro. Participated in the Impressionist exhibition in Paris in 1881. He became a professional painter in 1883. In 1886, he organized the "Awang Bridge School of Painting" in Brittany. In 1891, he lived in Tahiti, South Pacific, and began to form a unique painting style. Gauguin was tired of the hypocrisy and prosperity of the city and yearned for the simple nature of the island. The paintings mostly depict the primitive customs and rituals of islanders, with rich characters, large-area flat colors, eye-catching lines and outline, full of symbolic meaning and decorative effects, and great influence on symbolism and surrealism. Died May 1, 1903. His masterpieces include Jacob Struggles with Angels (1888), The Gaze of the Dead (1892), Worship (1894), Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Do We Go? (1897), Two Tahitian Women (1899), etc.
