On this day, 34 years ago, on February 24, 1991 (January 10, 1991 in the lunar calendar), the multinational force launched a ground offensive against the Iraq army. Multinational forces fired multi-stage rockets at Iraq positions. At 4 a.m.(local time) on February 24, 1991, the U.S. -led multinational forces began to launch large-scale ground attacks into Kuwait and Iraq in four directions. At noon on the 26th, Iraq President Saddam Hussein announced the withdrawal of troops from Kuwait. At 6 p.m. that night, Baghdad Radio broadcast that the Iraqi government had agreed to unconditionally accept 12 Security Council resolutions. At 9 p.m. on the 27th, U.S. President Bush delivered a televised speech announcing that the multinational force would implement a ceasefire at 5:00 GMT on the 28th.
