On February 19, 1979, the National Commission for UNESCO of the People's Republic of China was officially established and held its first meeting. The National Commission for UNESCO of China is composed of the Ministry of Education, the State Science and Technology Commission, the Ministry of Culture, China Academy of Sciences, China Academy of Social Sciences, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance and other relevant units in education, science, culture. It has a total of 25 members, Li Qi serves as director and Yang Yunyu serves as secretary-general.
