In March 1914, a third-year student of Western Painting at the Shanghai Academy of Picture and Art planned to use a mannequin to sketch according to the teaching plan. As there was no precedent in China, no one, male or female, was willing to do models, so they had to replace them with a child, about 15 years old, named Monk, who was the first human feature used by the school. Students proposed to use adult models, but the old customs were difficult to tolerate. Later, a young man was willing to pay a high price to be half-naked, but refused to be completely naked. The school hired models again with a lot of money, but as soon as they entered the studio, they all fled in embarrassment, with more than 20 people in a row. As for the last person, the school will not allow him to run away from battle, otherwise he will be fined. He blushed sheepishly and would rather be fined. Asked if he had skin diseases on his body, he said no. After repeated explanations, he agreed to try. Although he was naked in the studio, his muscles seemed very tense.
