March 5, 1770 Boston Massacre
255 years ago today, March 5, 1770 (February 9, 1770), the Boston Massacre. The Boston Massacre was an incident that occurred on March 5, 1770 on King Street in Boston. In this incident, British soldiers killed five civilians and injured six other civilians. The consequences of this incident were to inspire rebellion in the British North American colonies and ultimately lead to the American Revolution. Due to the large British military presence in Boston and the dissatisfaction of the North American colonial people with the British's continued exploitation of them, tensions between soldiers and civilians began to constantly insult and attack the army, resulting in the army using muskets. Three civilians were shot dead at the scene, 11 others were injured, and two died afterwards.
