Breaking-News >> TodayHistory Japan's Edo Shogunate Tokugawa Iesuna passed away
Tokugawa Ieyuna(1641 August 3, 1980-May 8, 1680), the fourth generation general of the Tokugawa Shogun. The second son of the third generation of general Tokugawa Iemitsu, his mother was Aretsuya (Baoshu in). Since the eldest brother died prematurely at birth, his childhood name was Takechiyo and was raised like a prince. The main wife Fumei saw Asamiko, the daughter of Prince Gong Zhenqing. It is said that Jia Gang's intelligence is not high. In the fourth year of Qing 'an (1651), Jiaguang passed away at the age of 48. Jiaguang, who was only 10 years old at that time, accepted the general's orders in Edo City. Since Jiagang, the general announced that this ceremony should be held in Edo. After the death of Jiamitsu, an attempted Ronin riot occurred (Qing 'an Incident), which caused social unrest. However, due to the assistance of his uncle Masayuki Baoke and Tadao Sakai, Lao Nakamatsu Shinagawa, and Tadaaki Abe, the incident was resolved. During his 29 years in office, Jia Gang further improved the shogunate's institutions, ordered the prohibition of martyrdom, and changed his father's military politics to civil politics. In his later years, the shogunate's finances deteriorated. Due to his natural weakness, Jia Gang was often ill in bed, resulting in the autocracy of the old man Sakai, and the shogunate's power gradually weakened. In the 8th year of Nobo (1680), he died due to illness at the age of 40 and had no children. Tadaikiyo Sakai wanted to follow the example of Innomoro's death and let a member of the royal family succeed as a general. Therefore, he planned to let Prince Arisukawa-miya, who was related by blood to the brother of Igatsu's grandfather (Hidetada), Yugatsuyoshi, Igatsu's youngest son, Igatsugawa, succeeded the position of general. Jia Gang was buried in Kanyong Temple in Ueno, with the legal name Yan Youyuan. During his lifetime, he intended to let his eldest brother Tokugawa Tsuyoshi, the 250,000-stone lord of the Kafu Prefecture, inherit the post of general. He did not expect to let his younger brother Tsuyoshi, who was ranked next to Tsuyoshi, inherit the post of general. However, since Tsuyoshi died in the 6th year of Yanbao (1678), Tsuyoshi succeeded to the post of general.
