In 1939, he went to Yunnan to serve as a professor at the National College of Art, and in August 1941, he was appointed as a professor of China Painting at the Fujian Provincial Teachers College. After liberation, he served as professor and director of the Department of Traditional Chinese Painting at Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts, and executive director of the Zhejiang Branch of the Artists Association.
