Economist Sun Yefang passed away on February 22, 1983
On this day, 42 years ago, on February 22, 1983 (January 10, 1983 in the lunar calendar), economist Sun Yefang passed away. Like Sun Yefang, Sun Yefang is a well-known economist in my country, and has also been compiled into the dictionary of celebrities internationally. Sun Yefang was born in 1908 in the family of a young employee in a yarn factory in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. His original surname was Xue. In 1923, under the influence of a progressive teacher, he joined the Socialist Youth League of China. He soon became a member of the Communist Party of China and served as the first Party branch secretary of Wuxi County. At that time, Sun Yefang was only 16 years old. In 1925, the party sent him to Sun Yat-sen University in Moscow for further study. After returning to China in 1930, he worked as trade union work and theoretical propaganda in Shanghai. He took the pen name Sun Yefang, and this name has been used since then. People who have read Sun Yefang's works all have a common feeling. He is not only deeply attested in economic theory, but also courageous and creative. Many economists once believed that in socialist society, the law of value will lose its effect with the elimination of the capitalist commodity economy. However, Sun Yefang believed that the law of value will not only still function during the socialist period, but also in communism. As long as there is socialized large-scale production, as long as production is still carried out in two categories: means of production and means of consumption, commodity circulation will occur and the law of value will still play a role. These ideas, which were later proved to be correct by facts, became Sun Yefang's revisionist crimes in the late 1950s. This upright and outspoken scholar has been persecuted since the early 1960s for defending and upholding his academic views. During the ten years of turmoil, he was shackled and imprisoned for seven years! Comrade Sun Yefang also put forward many unique opinions on the reform of my country's economic management system. He said in some articles and reports in the late 1950s and early 1960s that when studying the economic management system nowadays, we cannot always emphasize the relationship between the central and local governments. That is a matter of the national political system. From an economic perspective, the so-called management system is first and foremost the management system of enterprises as national economic cells, and its core is the issue of enterprises 'power and responsibilities. He advocated that in order to mobilize the enthusiasm of enterprises for production, the authority of enterprises must be expanded and the rights and responsibilities of fixed asset depreciation and equipment renewal must be handed over to grassroots enterprises. At the same time, the supply-production balance of products within the scope of the original cooperation relationship and supply and marketing relationship will be delegated to the enterprises for their own handling. These views are also quite insightful today. Even before his death, Comrade Sun Yefang still thought about the economic development and modernization of the motherland. He once told the comrades around him that he did not want to commemorate him with tears and wreaths, but hoped to further discuss his economic views and apply the correct parts to the construction of the "four modernizations". This is the best way to commemorate him. On February 22, 1983, Sun Yefang passed away. Sun Yefang in the hospital
