On January 7, 2003 (December 5, 2002 in the lunar calendar), my country's first cross-sea railway, the Guangdong-Hai Railway, was officially opened. Guangdong-Hai Railway No. 1 On January 7, 2003, the train ferry "Guangdong-Hai Railway No. 1" carrying the first freight train slowly left Beigang Pier in Zhanjiang, Guangdong, and headed for Nangang Pier in Hainan, marking the first cross-sea railway in my country. The Guangdong-Hai Railway was officially opened, and Hainan ended its history of being inaccessible to the mainland by trains. The Guangdong-Hainan Railway is China's first cross-sea railway. It was jointly invested by the Ministry of Railways, Hainan Province and Guangdong Province with a joint investment of 4.8 billion yuan. Starting from Zhanjiang, an important town in western Guangdong in the north, running through the Leizhou Peninsula, crossing the Qiongzhou Strait, and reaching Sanya directly. It is one of the national key railway projects during the "Ninth Five-Year Plan" period. The Guangdong-Hainan Railway is the first cross-sea railway in China. The Guangdong-Hainan Railway is a landmark project in the history of China's construction at the turn of the century. It shows that China has made breakthroughs in key technologies in building cross-sea railways, filled many domestic gaps in China, and marked that China's railway construction has entered a new historical stage. As the first cross-sea railway in China, Guangdong-Hainan Railway will provide experience for the construction, operation and management of cross-sea railway in China. The Guangdong-Hainan Railway includes three parts: the Zhanjiang to Hai 'an Railway in Guangdong Province, the Qiongzhou Strait Railway Ferry, and the Haikou to Chahe Railway in Hainan Province. In 2009, the Guangdong-Hainan Railway was selected as the earliest cross-sea railway in China by the China World Records Association, becoming another of the best in China in the transportation industry in China.
