Ziatko (1842~1903) was a German librarian and classical philologist. Born on January 27, 1842 in Neustadt, Upper Silesia. He died on January 13, 1903. Worked at the Library of the University of Freiburg in 1871. From 1872 to 1886, he served as director of the Library at the University of Breslau. From 1886, he served as director of the library and professor of library science at the University of Göttingen until his death. He was a pioneer in the academic library industry in Germany. He carried out a series of rectifications and reforms in the Library of Breslau University. In 1872, he established a reference book reading room for the library, and from 1874 to 1882, he presided over the compilation of the bibliography card catalog of the collection. In 1886, the "Regulations on the Cataloging of Letters Card Catalog in the Kingdom and University Library of Breslau" were published. In 1886, the world's earliest library science course was opened at the University of Göttingen, and in 1887, the series of "Collection of Library Science Works and Essays" was edited. In 1899, the Prussian government formulated the "Rules for the Application of the Prussian Library's Typeface Catalog" based on the above-mentioned regulations. His contributions to the German library industry include promoting collaborative plans for 10 Prussian university libraries, preparing joint catalogs, unifying cataloging standards, establishing interlibrary loan networks and standard management procedures, formulating educational plans, and awarding librarian qualifications.
