On February 28, 1775, Empress Xiaoyichun of the Qing Dynasty passed away
On this day, 250 years ago, on February 28, 1775 (January 29, 1775 in the lunar calendar), Empress Xiaoyichun of the Qing Dynasty (Consort Ling) passed away. Empress Xiaoyichun (October 23, 1727-February 28, 1775) was a family member of Wei Jia, the daughter of Qingtai, the head of the palace. Serve Gaozong as a noble person. Be awarded the title of imperial concubine, and be awarded the title of imperial concubine (i.e., the title of imperial concubine). Emperor Qianlong of Emperor Gaozong of the Qing Dynasty beheld 41 empresses and concubines in his life, of which three were awarded the title of empress. One was Gaozong's wife, Queen Xiaoxian, and the other was the queen Nala, who was treated coldly for cutting her hair herself. The last one was the biological mother of Emperor Jiaqing. She was an imperial concubine during her lifetime, but after her death, Wei Jia, who was awarded the title of Empress Xiaoyi Chun because her mother was noble because of her son. Wei Jia, originally known as the Wei family, was the daughter of Qingtai, the ruler of the inner government. She originally belonged to the Zhenghuang Banner. Later, because the Wei family was a concubine, she was carried into Manchuria by Qianlong to insert the Yellow Banner. Historically, it is said that "carrying the flag is a move to improve status. Wei Jia was born on the 9th day of September in the fifth year of Yongzheng. Because she belonged to the Xiangqi Banner of the Internal Affairs Office, she was selected into the palace as a palace maid. However, she later stood out and was granted the title of a noble person, becoming the emperor's concubine. The word "Chong" is used in historical materials, because in the harem, noble people, Chang Zai, and promising people are all of low ranks, but it is worth noting that noble people belong to the main position of the harem. According to the regulations of the Qing Dynasty's Internal Affairs Office for selecting palace maids, the age of selected palace maids should be between thirteen and seventeen years old. Therefore, Wei Jia's family should have entered the palace and become a palace maid between the sixth and tenth years of Qianlong. It is estimated that Wei Jia's beautiful appearance, kind heart, and was very loved by Emperor Qianlong. Therefore, in the first month of the tenth year of Qianlong, there was an edict to "grant Wei noble people as concubines". At this time, Wei Jia was only eighteen years old and had only entered the palace for two or three years. He was one of the three concubines (at that time, there were three people in the concubine position of Emperor Qianlong, namely Shu Consort Ye Henara, Yi Consort Bai and Ling Consort Wei). In November of the same year, Emperor Qianlong officially granted her the title of "Ling concubine". The word "Ling" comes from the words "Like a ruler, like a zhang, the order is heard and the order is expected" in the Book of Songs·Da Ya. It has a beautiful meaning in ancient Chinese. It is probably because Wei Jia let the emperor hear and see a kind and beautiful side like jade, so he got this title. In the 14th year of Qianlong, Wei Jia was promoted to the rank of imperial concubine. It can be seen from the records in the "Qing Shi Lu" that when the Jin Dynasty was granted, Wei Jia was already ranked first among all concubines, ranking first among the concubines of Shu, whose family background and qualifications were superior to her. Before Ye Henara, this has to be said to be a great favor. In the 24th year of Qianlong's reign, Wei Jia was promoted to the rank of Imperial Consort, and in the 30th year of Qianlong, she became an Imperial Consort. At this time, Queen Xiaoxian had died, and the successor queen Nara's had also fallen out of favor and was sent to the Cold Palace. In addition, Emperor Qianlong had never established an queen, so Wei Jia's family had since taken charge of the six palaces as an imperial concubine and acted on the queen's behalf. Responsibility, became the owner of the harem without name but with real power for 10 years. As the saying goes, the palace door is as deep as the sea. In this heavily fortified harem, it is not easy for Wei Jia's family to emerge from the water. Empress Narashi fell out of favor during her southern tour, and Wei Jiashi, who was then a royal concubine, was also present. Narashi fell from the hot position of queen into an abyss where no light could be seen. Wei Jiashi should be the best witness. From a palace maid with no status to becoming the master of the harem, Wei Jia accompanied the monarch for twenty years. After that, he used Nara's as a lesson and carefully exercised the power of the imperial concubine. It was really rare for him to sit in the high position of the imperial concubine for ten years without being censured by Emperor Qianlong. Unfortunately, Wei Jia did not live a long life. He passed away on the 29th day of the first month of the 40th year of Qianlong at the age of 49. The imperial edict was called the Imperial Consort of Ling Yi. In the 60th year of Qianlong, Yongyan, the son of Wei Jia, was made the crown prince. His mother was noble because of his son. Wei Jia was posthumously granted the title of Empress Xiaoyi and was promoted to Fengxian Hall, ranking second to Empress Xiaoxian. In the fourth year of Jiaqing, Emperor Jiaqing was given the posthumous title, and later, he was given the posthumous title of "Xiao Yi Gong Shun Kang Yu Ci Ren Duan Ke Min Zhe Yi Tian Yu Shengchun Queen" and was buried in Yuling. From Wei Jiashi, you can roughly see the life trajectory of a woman entering the palace. Of course, she was a lucky woman to enter the palace. In 1928, warlord Sun Dianying plundered the Yuling of Emperor Qianlong. When members of the Qing royal family were handling the aftermath of Yuling, they discovered that among the three imperial concubines (Huixian, Zhemin, Shujia) buried in the underground palace of Yuling, only the body of Empress Xiaowi Wei Jia had not rotted for 153 years and looked like a living creature, which was amazing.
