On October 14, 1994, the No. 2 Pit of Qin Shihuang's Terracotta Army was opened
On this day, 31 years ago, on October 14, 1994 (September 10, 1994 in the lunar calendar), the No. 2 Pit of Qin Shihuang's Terracotta Warriors was opened. Pit No. 2 of Qin Shihuang's Terracotta Warriors and Horses On October 14, 1994, the excavation site of Qin Shihuang's Terracotta Warriors and Horses Pit No. 2 was officially opened to Chinese and foreign people today. Li Tieying, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and State Councilor, cut the ribbon for the opening ceremony. According to Yuan Zhongyi, director of the Qin Terracotta Warriors Museum and captain of the Qin Terracotta Warriors Archaeological Team, since the excavation of the Qin Terracotta Warriors Pit No. 2 officially began on March 1, 1994, some important relics and relics in the pit are being revealed one after another. So far, more than 1000 square meters of roof wood remains of semi-underground buildings have been cleared, and more than 70 pottery figurines and pottery horses have been cleared in the original local trial excavation. The shed wood is made of pine and cypress frames. It was partially burned and most of it rotted naturally. The prototypes are well preserved, arranged neatly and orderly, and are magnificent, providing relatively complete physical data for studying the architectural structure of the Terracotta Warriors Pit. The large meander-shaped military formation composed of four independent square arrays in the pit forms a vivid picture of the ancient military formation of "large arrays set up small arrays, big camps set up small camps, arrays within arrays, battalions within battalions, and can be divided and combined". The excavation of Pit 2 is expected to take 5 to 7 years or even longer to complete. In order to meet the urgent requirements of domestic and foreign visitors, Pit No. 2 decided to open the excavation site to Chinese and foreign people. This form of opening while excavating is rare in the world. It not only allows people to see the current status of various relics when they were unearthed, but also allows people to understand the process of archaeological excavation work.
