On this day, 32 years ago, on March 13, 1993 (February 21, 1993 in the lunar calendar), the skull of an ancient human in Tangshan, Nanjing was discovered. On March 13, 1993, Liu Liansheng, a local migrant worker in Tangshan Town, and others discovered a fairly well-preserved skull fossil while cleaning up the deposits in Huludong. This is an ape skull similar to Homo erectus in Beijing. It was later called skull No. 1. According to the Chinese Academy of Sciences, she was a female aged 21-35. Later, experts identified a No. 2 skull discovered earlier. In the end, the Nanjing City Museum cooperated with the Department of Archaeology of Peking University to conduct the excavation. Research and identification results at that time showed that the skull of Nanjing Man No. 1 was about 350,000 years old, while the skull No. 2 lived more than 100,000 years ago and was a male. Two Homo erectus skull fossils and one Homo erectus tooth fossil have been discovered, and more than 2000 mammalian fossils have been excavated and selected. Animal fossils are extremely densely accumulated, and the age of the fauna belongs to the Middle Pleistocene, and its nature is similar to that of the Beijing-Sarge deer fauna in the north. The characteristics of human fossils are also relatively similar to those of Peking Man. Through the latest TIMS identification, the "age" of the skull of Tangshan Man-1 has been confirmed from the original thought of 300,000 - 350,000 years ago to 500,000 - 600,000 years ago. Based on the fossil characteristics, the mystery of the high nose of skull No. 1 was revealed. It is believed that Tangshan Man has genetic exchange and may be a "hybrid" of China Man and Western Man.
