Roman Emperor Hadrian was born

Hadrian (Publius Aelius Traianus Hadrianus, January 24, 76-July 10, 138, nicknamed Emperor Yong, one of the Five Wise Emperors of the Roman Empire, reigned from 117 to 138)

Hadrian, ancient Roman emperor. Born on January 24, 76 AD ({sys:(year(now)-76)} years ago). His ancestral home is Italica, a town in southern Spain. He received military training in Italy and enjoys hunting. In 91 AD, his cousin Trajan became consul, and he also became a member of the Roman Senate. Around 1995, he came to the Province of Hauptmosia on the Danube River to assist Legio II Ajutix, and the following year he was transferred to the Province of Lower Mosia. At the end of 1997, Trajan was adopted by Roman Emperor Nerva as an adopted son and designated as the heir to the throne. He was ordered to go to Western Gaul to deliver a congratulatory message to Trajan. From then on, he became the highest ruling class of the empire.

During Trajan's reign, Lucios Licinius Sura, who promoted him to the throne, was the most authoritative figure in the court. Hadrian was lucky enough to be favored by Sulla, and Empress Prodina also valued him very much. In 100 AD, she personally facilitated Trajan's great-niece Vibia Sabina to marry him. The following year he was promoted to accountant in the Senate. In 102, when Trajan went to the Kingdom of Dacia on the Danube River, he served as the escort. In 105, he was promoted to consul with military power. In 107, he served as governor of Lower Pannonia in the Danube Province. In 112, he became consul of Athens.

In 117, Trajan made a Western Tour and ordered Hadrian to command the heavy troops gathered in Syria. On August 9 of the same year, he was adopted by Trajan as an adopted son. Two days later, when they learned that Trajan had died on his way to Rome, the entire army immediately supported him as the successor emperor. By the time he arrived in Rome in the summer of 118, his position was fairly solid. For the next three years, he lived in Rome.

In 121, Hadrian began to tour the entire empire, inspecting military and border defense. First to Gaul and Germania, then to Britain, then to Spain, where he spent the winter in Taraco and mobilized troops to suppress the uprising in Mauritania (Morocco). After that, he moved eastward, crossing the Balkans by land, passing through the Aegean Sea and arriving at Asia Minor (Anatolia). There he negotiated with Parthia and then visited northwest Asia Minor. In 124, he returned to the west coast of Asia Minor and sailed to Athens. In 125, he returned to Rome and lived for another three years.

In 128, Hadrian traveled first to North Africa on his second cruise, then to Athens, then to Asia Minor, and then to Syria and Arabia. Then he crossed the sea to Egypt, surveyed the Nile River, and then went to Athens for the third time. Although it is impossible to confirm whether he returned to Rome in 132 or some later, it is certain that he was in Rome when the Jewish rebellion broke out in May 134 and led his troops to Palestine. This was also the last time he embarked on a journey.

Hadrian was the most cultured of all Roman emperors. He was proficient in astrology. In order to watch the sunrise, he, like many Roman scholars at the time, had made a special trip to climb Mount Etna in Sicily and Mount Jabalal Hamara in Syria. He also has the temperament of an artist, which can be fully expressed in his poems, in his architectural design and in his way of life. He rebuilt the Roman Pantheon, which was destroyed by fire, and restored the Augustus-style architectural structure that bore both his prosperous Li Palace and the huge Imperial Mausoleum. In 134, he made an overseas trip to solve serious Jewish problems. He died on July 10, 138, at the seaside resort of Baya, aged 62.

Ruins of the Roman Temple of Venus.

The Roman Temple of Venus was built between 123 and 135 AD. Designed personally by Roman Emperor Hadrianus (January 24, 76 to July 10, 138), it was the largest temple in ancient Rome, with a length of 145 meters, a width of 100 meters and a height of 29.5 meters.
