Zhou Gengsheng, also known as Zhou Lan, was a Han nationality born in Changsha, Hunan Province (1889-1971). He was born into a poor teacher's family on March 6, 1889. In the thirty-second year of Guangxu (1906), he went to Waseda University in Japan to study and joined the China League. After returning to China before the Revolution of 1911, he participated in the founding of the Republic of China Daily in Hankou to promote the democratic revolution. In 1912, he founded the Hankou Republic of China Daily with Pi Zongshi, Yang Duanliu, Ren Kainan and others. In 1913, he founded the "Republic of China Daily" in Hankou with his friend Yang Duanliu and others, and served as an editor. He criticized the arbitrariness of warlords and opposed Yuan Shikai's dictatorship. As a result, the newspaper office was closed down and the editors were wanted. In July of the same year, he went to the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom to continue his studies and received a master's degree in political science and a gold medal. Later, he went to the University of Paris in France to further study and received a doctorate in law. He participated in the patriotic activities of China workers and students in Paris to prevent China representatives from signing the Treaty of Versailles. His book "International Law" contains 600,000 words and lists the five basic principles of mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, mutual non-aggression, non-interference in each other's internal affairs, equality and mutual benefit, and peaceful coexistence as the basic principles of international law, making traditional international law The qualitative changes have played an important role in safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries in the world and maintaining international peace and security. It can be said to be the most systematic and authoritative work on international law in our country's modern times.
