On March 5, 1918, Soviet Russia moved its capital from Saint Petersburg to Moscow.
Russian Soviet Federal Socialist Republic, referred to as Soviet Russia (Soviet Russia became the largest constituent republic of the Soviet Union after the founding of the Soviet Union in 1922). On November 7, 1917, the October Revolution led by Lenin and Trotsky was won and the Russian Soviet Federal Socialist Republic was established. On December 30, 1922, the Russian Soviet Federal Socialist Republic, the Ukraine Soviet Socialist Republic, the Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic, and the Transcaucasian Soviet Socialist Republic (including the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic, the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic, and the Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic) formally formed the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. On December 25, 1991, the Soviet Union disintegrated, and the Supreme Soviet of the Russian Soviet Federal Socialist Republic decided to change its name to The Russian Federation.
