April 30, 1946 The United States and Britain opposed the establishment of a Jewish state
On this day, 79 years ago, April 30, 1946 (March 29, 1946 in the lunar calendar), the United States and Britain opposed the establishment of a Jewish state. On April 30, 1946, the British and British Commission of Inquiry on European and Palestinian Jewish Issues issued a report, urging that 100,000 Jews from Europe be allowed to enter the holy land as soon as possible. This idea was put forward by President Truman, but the report categorically rejected the idea of a Jewish state and the Arab demand for the right to rule. This decision not only safeguarded the interests of Christians in the region, but also guaranteed the civil rights and religious beliefs of Arabs. The report comes after violence that killed seven British soldiers. British authorities in Palestine have imposed a curfew in the Jewish district of Tel Aviv where they govern.
