The League of Nations was an international organization established shortly after the end of World War I. During the First World War, some bourgeois peace groups in the United States actively advocated the establishment of an institution to mediate international disputes. On January 10, 1920, the League of Nations was officially established. All countries and new countries that declared war on the German-Austrian Group during the war were founding members of the League of Nations. Thus, the League of Nations had a total of 44 member states, which gradually increased to 63 countries, with its headquarters in Geneva. China joined the League of Nations on June 29, 1920. The main organs of the League of Nations are the Assembly, Council, Secretariat, and are attached to the International Court of Justice, the International Labor Office, etc. The most important institution is the Council. The Covenant stipulates that the United States, Britain, France, Italy and Japan are permanent members, and there are also four non-permanent members. Although the League of Nations is the first attempt by countries to establish international institutions to prevent armed conflicts and strengthen universal peace and security, it has not played a role in maintaining peace in practice. The Covenant stipulated that German colonies should be handed over to Britain, France and Japan for colonial rule. Its role was only to help imperialism redivide its sphere of influence and consolidate the post-war imperialist system. After the end of World War II, with the development and intensification of contradictions between imperialists, the League of Nations inevitably went bankrupt. In April 1946, the "League of Nations" announced its dissolution and all property and archives were handed over to the United Nations.
