Wen Jiabao emphasized at the meeting that the rural tax and fee reform will enter a new stage, consolidate the results of the rural tax and fee reform, and actively and steadily promote the comprehensive reform pilot with township institutions, rural compulsory education, and county and township financial systems as the main contents. On December 29, the 19th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 10th National People's Congress decided to abolish the Agricultural Tax Regulations of the People's Republic of China starting from January 1, 2006.
