Breaking-News >> TodayHistory Amedio VI, Count of Savoy, Italy, was born
Amadeus vi Amedeo VI (January 4, 1334-March 1, 1383) was Count of Savoy of Italy (reigned 1343 - 1383). His nickname "Green Earl" comes from his own habit of wearing green clothes and his frequent appearance on national occasions with his entourage who wear green. Amedio VI was the son of Aimone, Count of Savoy, and succeeded to the throne at the age of 9. He crossed the Alps in 1348 to suppress the Piedmont rebellion. In 1366, Amedio VI led a small crusade to support his cousin Byzantine Emperor John V Pariologas in resisting Ottoman aggression. Later, he mediated many disputes and conflicts among Italian princes, and launched an expedition to rescue Queen Giovanna I of the Kingdom of Naples in 1382, but died of plague on the way. His son Amedio VII succeeded him. Keywords: January 4, 1334, Amadeo VI, Count News raw data sources → https://today.help.bj.cn/show/?id=307 17WorldNews[2025.09.28-07:26] 访问:77
