Dou Erdun (Peking Opera, played by Fang Rongxiang) Fang Rongxiang was born in 1925. He joined Liyuan at the age of 8 and became his teacher at the age of 16. After 10 years of hard study, I sang in the trenches on the Korean front line for the loveliest people who shed blood and died for justice. After that, he continued to abide by the Tao, studied diligently, and conscientiously inherited the essence of Qiu School art, and became the best successor of contemporary Qiu School art. Even during the Cultural Revolution, Fang Rongxiang's teacher was turned into a gang and labeled as a "reactionary authority". In the adversity when traditional opera had been "wiped out", Fang Rongxiang still did not deviate from his teachers or give up his study of traditional art. Therefore, when Qiu Shengrong was about to die in 1971, he personally took off the watch that was left in the midst of hardship and passed it on to Fang Rongxiang, together with the "outfit" that had accompanied him all his life. Fang Rongxiang really lived up to his teacher's expectations. Not long after the "catastrophe" passed, he was quickly able to embody the subtle and profound charm of Qiu School art, the special and wonderful sound produced by the clever combination of nasal cavity, chest cavity, head cavity and jaw cavity. The rhythm was successfully reproduced on the stage, thus filling the major shortcoming in the variety of Peking Opera artistic styles caused by Qiu Shengrong's premature death. Therefore, every time Fang Rongxiang performs, there is always a lot of traffic in front of the theater. When Fang Rongxiang was a guest at a friend's house in 1985, he once had a very humorous answer: "Why do you need to be on airs? I don't sing 'frame flowers'. It is art that attracts people, not airs. When writing the poster, he insisted that the title of "famous Peking Opera performing artist" should not be added. He said that he liked the words "successor of Qiu School". Artists cannot be divorced from the people. Fang Rongxiang's belief grows stronger with age and will remain unchanged until death. On April 14, 1989, Fang Rongxiang, who was seeking medical treatment in the hospital, was in a very serious condition. When faced with his brother who made a special trip to visit him, he was happy and undiminished: "Don't worry, I will recover. After I was discharged from the hospital, I would take Wang Haibo (a newly recruited Taiwanese female disciple) and "Provincial Beijing" down there.
