Gu Jiegang's birthplace-Gu Jiegang, Gujia Garden, Xuanqiao Lane (1893 - 1980) is a China historian and historical geographer. The original name is Song Kun, and the word is Ming Jian. A native of Suzhou, Jiangsu. Graduated from Peking University in 1920 from the Liberal Arts and China Philosophy School. He has served successively as a professor at Xiamen, Zhongshan, Yanjing, Beijing, Yunnan, Qilu, Central Committee, Fudan, Lanzhou and other universities, an academician of the Academia Sinica, and director of the Institute of History and Languages of Sun Yat-sen University and director of the Institute of Chinese Studies of Qilu University. In his early years, he collected folk songs and engaged in folklore research. In 1920, he began to examine and identify ancient historical legends. By 1923, he proposed "Ancient History of China Created by Layers", breaking the concept of viewing ancient times as the "golden age" and causing heated debate in the historical circles. Later, he compiled the articles he discussed and argued with others into eight volumes of "Ancient History Bian"(seven volumes have been published). In 1927, he founded the Folk Society and Folk Weekly and edited the "Folk Society Series". Use folk materials to verify ancient historical legends. Later, he went on to examine historical geography and founded the bimonthly "Yu Gong" in 1934, and established the Yu Gong Society the following year. It has promoted the research of historical geography in my country and cultivated a group of specialized talents in historical geography. Due to the deep national crisis at that time, they gradually focused on border geographical research. In 1936, the Border Research Association was established. At the same time, they organized a popular reading publishing agency to preside over the compilation and compilation of tunes such as drum ci to promote the anti-Japanese war. During the Anti-Japanese War, he moved to the mainland and founded the China Border Society, published Frontier Weekly, and successively edited the semi-monthly magazine of "Duty Shan" and "Literature and History Magazine." After liberation, he served as a researcher and academic member of the Institute of History, China Academy of Sciences. In Beijing, he presided over the work of punctuation "Zizhi Tongjian" and the Twenty-Four Histories, and conducted in-depth research on "Shangshu" and successively published many proofreading, interpretation and translation theories on "Shangshu".
