On this day, 56 years ago, on March 25, 1969 (February 8, 1969 in the lunar calendar), Pakistan President Ayub Khan handed over power to the military 11 years after leading the country. Ayub Khan visited Ayub Khan (1907 - 1974), President of Pakistan (1958 - 1969). He studied at Aligar Muslim University and the Royal Military College in Sandhurst, England. In December 1963, he was elected chairman of the Pakistan Muslim League (Congress). In 1965, the India-Pakistan War broke out as the dispute over Jammu and Kashmir worsened. In January 1966, the Tashkent Declaration was signed with Indian Prime Minister L.B. Shastri in Tashkent, the Soviet Union. On February 21, 1969, he declared that he did not approve of a new general election, causing widespread student protests and strikes. On March 25 of the same year, forced by domestic situations, it was announced that the power would be transferred to Army Commander-in-Chief Yahya Khan. During his term of office, agricultural reforms were implemented, and the Xiba Land Reform Regulations were promulgated, stipulating the maximum amount of land, collecting land exceeding the limit for leasing or selling to farmers, and stipulating that the legitimate rights and interests of tenants should be protected, and tenancy grabbing, increasing rent and illegal extortion should be strictly prohibited. Ayub Khan has also made certain efforts to develop industrial production, and foreign investment in Pakistan has been encouraged.
