51 years ago today, February 22, 1974 (February 1, 1974 in the lunar calendar), Pakistan recognized Bangladesh. Before World War II, Britain had to promise independence to India and Pakistan. After the end of the war, India achieved independence. However, before long, various classes and factions in the country were divided and full of contradictions, the biggest of which was the discord between Muslims and Hindus. Since the introduction of Islam to the Indian Peninsula, Muslims have tried their best to maintain their religious and cultural characteristics against Hindus, who make up the majority of the residents. In 1947, the Muslim League led by Mohammed Ali Jinnah announced the establishment of an independent Islamic state-the State of Pakistan in an area where the majority of Muslims are majority. India and Pakistan were divided into two parts, and Bangladesh was divided into east and west, with the west belonging to India and the east belonging to Pakistan. In 1968, riots broke out in the country, making the 1968 election impossible. When the army took over power in 1969, General Yahya Khan implemented military law control in the country and became himself president. In 1970, East Pakistan declared a strike and there were many riots, demanding the separation of East and West Pakistan. In 1971, Indian troops entered East Pakistan. The India-Pakistan War broke out. As a result, the Pakistan army was defeated. In March 1971, East Pakistan declared independence, and the People's Republic of Bangladesh was formally established in January 1972. Mohammed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto takes over as president of Pakistan. In February 1974, Pakistan officially recognized Bangladesh.
