George Washington

In April 1789, Washington was elected the first president of the United States. When he was sworn in, on the one hand, he was very moved by the trust in him by the American people. At this time, some people encouraged him to become king, which he severely condemned; he even opposed when people called him "His Highness the President and Protector of Liberty of the United States of America." Washington was born on February 22, 1732 ({sys:(year(now)-1732)} years ago), the son of a planter. At the age of 16, he began to earn his own living. At the age of 21, he served as a major adjutant in the Virginia militia as a large manor owner and began his military career. In the American War of Independence, he was appointed commander-in-chief of the Continental Army, responsible for organizing the Continental Army, carrying out the struggle against Britain, and making immortal contributions to the independence and unity of the United States.
