95 years ago today, April 3, 1930 (March 5, 1930 in the lunar calendar), former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl was born. Cole (first from left) looked unconvinced when he was a child. Cole was born in Ludwigshafen on the Rhine on April 3, 1930. He joined the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) while studying in liberal arts middle school in 1947. He was one of the founders of the Ludwigshafen Christian Youth League. After graduating from high school in 1950, he studied law, sociology and history at the University of Frankfurt and the University of Heidelberg, and received a doctorate in philosophy in 1958. From 1954 to 1961, Cole served as vice chairman of the Rhineland-Palatinate Youth League, and in 1955 was elected as a member of the state's CDU Executive Committee. Cole was the head of the Ludwigshafen Chemical Industry Federation from 1959 to 1969. In 1959, he was elected as a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Assembly. In 1960, he served as Chairman of the CDU Parliamentary Group of the Ludwigshafen City Council. He has been a member of the CDU Federal Executive Committee since 1964, and Chairman of the CDU Rhineland-Palatinate State Committee from 1966 to 1973. Governor of Rhineland-Palatinate from 1969 to 1976. Cole served as Federal Vice Chairman of the CDU from 1969 to 1973, Federal Chairman of the CDU since 1973, and was elected as a Federal Member in successive parliamentary elections since 1976. From 1976 to 1982, he served as Chairman of the Christian Democratic Union-Christian Social Union Parliamentary Group of the Bundestag, and Prime Minister of the Federal Government from October 1982 to 1998. During his tenure as Prime Minister, Kohl visited China in 1974, 1984, 1987, 1993 and 1995. However, Cole is currently facing charges and investigations of "political donations." Little Cole spent his summer vacation at the farm. On June 27, 1960, Cole and Hannelore finally got married after 13 years of bitter love. "I was born to be prime minister," Cole and his two sons Cole declared during the campaign. On June 8, 1969, Cole took his three-and-a-half-year-old son Peter to vote at a polling station.
